mar 22, 1765 - Stamp Act Passed By Parliament
Description:
The Stamp Act was passed by Parliament and this law required all legal documents such as diplomas, contracts, and wills to have an official stamp on them in order to show that a tax has been paid. The colonists were affected by this tax severely and began to protest. Many colonists such as newspaper printers and lawyers were affected daily by this tax. The colonist began to attack British tax collectors by tar and feathering them, causing the tax collectors to quit their jobs in fear of the colonist's fury. Patrick Henry, a member of Virginia's House of Burgesses, also called resistance to the Stamp Act.
