mar 24, 1650 - Robert Boyle

Description:

Robert Boyle was the next famous chemist to make theory's based on existing theory's from the Ancient Greek philosophers. Boyle believed that Empedocles "four element" theory could be improved and added to. He published a book that would later become extremely famous called " The Skeptical Chemist". This book stated that an element is part of bodies that have just not mingled to create anything yet. Boyle also helped build the concept of elements and compound, with this he recognized that elements could be formed together to create compounds, and with that theory he believed that air was not a element but instead it was a mixture. These theory's would later in history be very helpful to other scientists to develop the atom.
