oct 1, 1937 - Law goes into affect.

Description:

Frankin D. Roosevelt (pictured), the president in 1937, signed the bill into effect. Roosevelt was a Democrat. This bill changed the way Cannabis was transferred and produced. It practically banned all recreational marijuana and made medical and industrial cannabis impractical due to ridiculously high taxes and consequences for being caught with it. The bill was overturned in 1969, in Leary vs. United States, and was repealed by congress in 1970. Marijuana was then completely banned, including medical and industrial use.

The reason I chose this law was because I was interested in the history of cannabis legality after changes to it's legality in recent years.
