jun 10, 1934 - Night of the Long Knives
Description:
With much of the Nazi party being consolidated in German power, the Night of the Long Knives was intended towards preserving such, by eliminating direct opponents.
Fearing that the SA (storm troopers) was becoming too powerful, Hitler directed the SS (political soldiers of the Nazi party) to eliminate and kill these individuals in the SA bearing too much power for Hitlers liking.
Ernst Rohm, head of the Storm Troopers Battalion was one of the main targets of Hitler, for he had directed the SA to being much more independent, dismissing Hitlers leadership over the group.
And so, excuse of a planned coup against Hitler, coordinated by Rohm, Hitler ordered the Gestapo and SS to round up Rohm and any other viewed political opponents to Hitler. Here he would shoot them, killing them effectively, furthering the Nazi powers into Germany's penultimate leaders.
