Chinese Exclusion Acts
Description:
One of the first significant laws that restricted immigration to the United States. This act created a 10 year ban on immigration from Asian countries. It also put strain on current citizens, as they would need to obtain new certifications to come back into the country if they were to leave. These laws strengthened and institutionalized racism in the country.
