Once Hitler became Chancellor in January 1933, it was clear to him that he did not want to work in a parliamentary democracy.
Marinus Van Der Lubbe, main culprit of the burning of the Reichstag. was a young Dutch Communist. And so, with this information Hitler was able to manipulate such, creating anti-Communist sentiment and furthering the popularity of his Nazi party.
Due to these events, Hindenburg was also convinced to pass the Reichstag Fire Decree, suspending Civil liberties.
