mar 23, 1933 - Enabling Act is passed

Description:

Also considered an Amendment to the Weimar Constitution, Hitler's first move in Parliament with his newly gained majority is to pass the Enabling Act.

Under this Act, Hitler gained ultimate legislative powers for the next 4 years, without any form of legislation being required to be scrutinised under from the Reichstag.

How was it passed?

-Communists (in the KPD party) were no longer as active in the Reichstag as beforehand, given their arrest from the events of the Reichstag Fire, conducted by Hitler's SA.
- Hitler struck a deal with the Centre Party that Catholics all throughout Germany would be protected.

This influenced the final vote to be

444 for and 94 against.
