Through the country, the anti-chinese sentiment led to racial violence. To stop this, some people believed that the Chinese Exclusion Act would stop this.
For a while,, the Chinese were forced to go to separate schools. Eventually, this was changed by Theodore Roosevelt.
The Chinese came to America for more opportunity. With this new act, it made it hard for the immigrants to become citizens.
When Japan took offense of the way they were being treated. Theodore Roosevelt made a deal that he would limit Chinese immigration, but the segregation would have to stop.
