aug 23, 1830 - 1830s-1840s Irish, German, and Mexican "immigrants,”
Description:
At this time, almost half of the Irish, German, and Mexicans came to the United States. This meant that they now made up most of the population.
They moved because of civil unrest and unemployment. The Germans wanted to escape the political riots. Most of these immigrants farmed, but in the past couple of years, all of their crop failed.
In the United States, they had big cities with lots of job opportunities. The U.S. also provided open land to farm on.
Most of them settled in big cities. They constructed canals and railroads.
