nov 1, 1607 - Jamestown
Description:
105 people sailed from England to Virginia. Once they landed in the Virginia they began to build their tow but were in for a rude awakening when conditions, unlike anything they've experienced before, occured. “An unfamiliar climate, as well as brackish water supply and lack of food, conditions possibly aggravated by a prolonged drought, led to disease and death.” These people came to Jamestown because they wanted religious freedom and the chance to start a new life. This affects immigration in the United States because once people hear that their expedition was a success then more people will eventually follow them to the U.S.
