oct 31, 1517 - Martin Luther Presents his 95 Theses
Description:
Martin Luther was a monk who taught in the relatively obscure German city of Wittenburg. He was obsessed with finding salvation through confession and faith, but many in the Catholic church disagreed. He particularly had issues with the sale of indulgences, as he believed they were merely extortion, not a way out of purgatory. He thus published 95 Theses Against the Sale of Indulgences. This act was heretical, but his ideas gained traction and led to the Protestant Reformation.
