Description:

On November 6,1986 the immigration reform and control act was passed. This act was passed to amend, revise, and reform/re-assess the status of unauthorized immigrants. This act gave unauthorized immigrants the opportunity to apply and gain legal status if they met the requirements. They had to prove that they lived in the US continuously and possessed a clean criminal record, and proof of registration. They also had to know a minimal amount of US history, government, and English language or be taking a course of study.
