apr 10, 1778 - John Paul Jones Begins his Raids on Great Britain

Description:

On April 10th, 1778, John Paul Jones set out to raid Great Britain. Effectively a pirate, he officially became part of the Continental Navy in December of 1775. During his campaign in Britain, he captured British ships and bombarded British cities. The British, who took great pride in their navy, were very embarrassed because Jones continued to evade arrest. Also, civilians were fearful and unprepared as it had been a long time since someone actually attacked British soil. John Paul Jones' raids really made them question the war they were fighting.
