Although the 'Camera Obscura' was invented much earlier, it could only make projections, not take photos. Years later an inventor named Joseph Niepce used the camera to take the first photograph. He used a chemical called 'silver nitrate' knowing that it changes color when exposed to light, to take the first photograph. The photograph took 8 hour to develop
