It’s a critical communication breakthrough because “it became the basis” for the internet. It’s influenced the nature of communication because it’s started the mass information flow that the internet is capable of. A positive implication is that the internet provided an opportunity for people to exchange ideas and store that information to educate others. The internet however can also be a place now for criminals and illegal activity to take place (i.e. Identity theft).
