apr 26, 1941 - Manhattan project executive order
Description:
In 1941 president Roosevelt made an executive order granting unlimited resources to go to the research and production of the atom bomb, which would one day destroy the Japanese city of Hiroshima. This is an example of how checks and balances in the united states government doesn't always work effectively. This executive order allowed one branch of the government to use the entire us treasury to create the atom bomb as the country was actively involved in the war and had many other concerns that deserve funding. For the most part checks and balances work but in this case it gave a lot of power to one branch of the US government.
