Description:

Issued by Henry IV of France after the Civil war following St Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. The Edict of Nantes sacrificed some religious principles, but was able to stabilize France. Henry converted to Catholicism, and allowed for freedom of Public worship to the Huguenots, ending decades of civil war in France and establishing precedent for freedom of religion and public worship.
