jun 30, 2010 - Region V Re-focuses on Micro-Regional programming

Description:

One of which was the idea of creating micro-regional connections. The idea being that Region V covers a lot of space with fewer institutions of higher learning when compared to other regions, and this spreads region V's members out over large distances and that prohibits participation in state and regional conferences. For example, in many cases a state conference or social may be held on the coast of Washington or Oregon but would still be too far for members on the east side's of those states to attend. This means that location of state and KC reps may inadvertently influence who can and cannot participate within the region. With this revelation and SLP Knowledge Community developed the idea of hosting micro-regional connections as a way to get more involvement throughout the huge footprint of Region V. This idea was first proposed at the end of 2010, and would be a focus for advisory boards in the future.
