A partial collapse of the Kolka glacier claimed on September 20, 2002 caused an avalanche on the northern slopes of the Kazbek massif in North Ossetia, Russia. The avalanche covered the majority of the Russian village of Nijni Karmadon under snow and debris. 125 deaths were recorded, including a film crew of 27 people, including the famous Russian actor Sergei Bodrov, Jr.
