The Queensberry code of rules was introduced by John Gram, the rules stated it was mandatory to wear padded gloves, rounds lasted for 3 minutes with a 1-minute break. use of anything other than hands was forbidden, those who fell had to stand back up within 10 seconds or it would be considered a loss, and the introduction of weight classes was created.
