Description:

Another influenza strain from Hong Kong, this version was H3N2 and caused somewhere between 1-4 million deaths. It is believed that thi strain actually evolved from the 1957 Asian flu strain by way of antigenic shift, a process in which one strain will undergo genetic mutation after becoming exposed to another strain in a suitable host body such as a pig.
