With his new life in Australia, Saroo's adoptive parents would put up symbols of India; statues of elephants, a map of India in Saroo's room, eating Indian food, and Hindu scriptures. They ate dinner with another Indian family while Saroo was still not very adjusted to the English language or Australian life. He clashed with cultural differences, such as women being in authority.Saroo didn't experience problems with racism, not growing up with any scars from it, at least. Lots of Indian communities were kept near.
