At this moment he decides to create his own studio, with the collaboration of Adolf Meyer. Here he worked for several years in the reform of the Fagus factory, possibly the first sample of modern architecture. This work, together with the offices of the Werkbund in Cologne, were the works that made him known outside the German borders.
