apr 19, 1775 - American Revolution
It is okay for people to start a war when their government is abusing of the people’s rights and freedom, this makes a war justified. In the American revolution, people felt that their government was a tyranny, which is what makes this war justified. The British King was abusing by making colonists pay excessive taxes to pay for the French and Indian War. Because they didn’t have representation in Parliament, the colonists protested “Taxation without representation is tyranny”. However, they still had to pay the abusive taxes, which was what made them mad and began to make them feel that they had to fight against this. The colonists split up into loyalists, people that were still loyal to the king, and patriots, people who wanted independence. The Patriots created a militia and fought the American Revolution to gain their independence from the British government. At the end of the war, the Patriots created and signed the Declaration of Independence, which declared that the 13 colonies were now independent of the British government. This nation’s new name was the United States of America.
