On the 11th January 1916, Arthur left France. He wrote, “Embarked on HMS Kingstonian, left Marseille 10.30pm 11.1”The ship was actually the S.S. Kingstonian. This, like the earlier troop carrier on which Arthur crossed the English channel, was eventually sunk by German U Boats. According to this site, two separate actions by two different U Boats UB48 in April 1918 destroyed the ship.
