At the Battle of Lexington an unknown shot was fired, also known as "The Shot Heard Around the World." Colonial resistance faded and the British army marched on Concord. They met a group of minutemen on the Old North Bridge and retreeated after meeting this resistance. This is the start of the the American Revolution.
