jan 1, 1767 - The Townshend Acts
Description:
The Townshend Acts taxed all colonial imports of lead, glass, paper, paint, and tea. The British devised new ways of paying taxes which would force the colonies to pay, and it created punishments to those who couldn't/wouldn't pay the taxes. They were repealed in 1770, but the tax on Tea was kept.
