Homo Erectus, our ancestors from about 1.8 million years ago were the first of our ancestors to stand completely upright and the first to use fire for cooking and warmth. They also were the first to start leaving Africa. They had also had started to hunt. The jaw bone can tell us how slow or fast Homo Erectus matures and grows.
