Description:

Smallpox allowed Cortes to overthrow the Aztec empire with less than 600 men. 3 million Amerindians perished, which was about 1/3 of Mexico's population. Smallpox weakened the Aztecs and killed a large portion of the population, paving the way for Cortes.
