jan 20, 1793 - Death of King Louis XVI
Description:
King Louis XVI was the last monarch of France, and he died, unloved by his own people. A trial was held for him, and he was condemned to die by a near-consensus. He was forced to accept a constitution, which stripped him of his power and left him a mere figurehead. Unfortunately, the French Revolution would not stop with the death of the King, and would continue on for years to come.
