sep 11, 2018 - THE FUTURE OF FILM

Description:

The future of film remains in the hands of future filmmakers. However, I have noticed a trend in the resurgence of new wave styles - specifically the French New Wave. Films such as Frances Ha (2013) specifically depict the influence of this era of stylistic filmmaking.
I believe that we now have the equipment to utilise however we want. Perhaps we can find new ways to use coloured filters, or fish eye lenses, or create some sort of inception with a kinetoscope. Creativity is always shifting and evolving. New influences will continue to find their ways into scripts and plots. Perhaps more films surrounding relevant issues today such as climate change, our twisted political leaders or racist, misogynistic, xenophobic societies will influence modern filmmakers the way that relevant issues inspired films in the new wave era.
