dec 31, 1910 - The Discovery of the Proton

Description:

In 1911, Ernest Rutherford a physicist from New Zealand discovered the proton and published his studies leading to the nuclear charge. He demonstrated that the nuclear charge on a nucleus was proportional to the atomic mass of the element. Leading to the discovery of the atomic number was Dutch physicist Antonius van den Broek who proposed that the atomic mass of an element was approximately equal to the charge of an atom.
