dec 15, 1814 - Hartford Convention
Description:
Delegates from New England states met in Hartford, Connecticut in order to discuss their grievances against the Republican majority. While there were some delegates that fought for secession, they were outnumbered by those opposing the idea. Although the report written about the convention only hinted at potential secession, it did reassert the right of nullification as well as propose seven amendments to the Constitution designed to protect New England from the growing influence of the South and the West.
