Description:

American forces under the leadership of Andrew Jackson took revenge on the Creeks (Indian tribe) by slaughtering women and children along with warriors. After this defeat, the tribe agreed to cede most of its lands to the United States and retreated westward. Jackson, as a result of this battle, won a commission as a major general in the United States Army.
