Description:

Devised by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Charles Townshend, the Townshend Act was set in June of 1767. This Act upset the colonists as it added more taxes and laws onto them. It taxes many things like glass, oil, paint, lead, paper, and tea. The purpose of this Act was to raise the salaries on American judges and governors. This Act lead to the start of their rebellion and ban of British goods in 1768.
