jun 19, 63 BC - Augustus (Octavian) (63 B.C.E.-12 C.E.)

Description:

Augustus was a ruler of Rome that partially broke the system, which in turn made him a dictator. He served multiple terms in a system where the ruler is only supposed to rule for one year, which is surprising because this term rule was usually strictly enforced. He served after Julius Caesar, his great-uncle, and is best known for transforming the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire. He also laid the groundwork for the Pax Romana, the internal Roman Peace Treaty. (2.2)
