jun 15, 1905 - The first Nickelodeon opened.

Description:

Nickelodeons were small storefront movie theatres that costed 5 cents (a nickle) to see a film. The first Nickelodeon was opened by Harry Davis and John P. Harris on Smithfield Street in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although this wasn't the first theatre to show film it was the first one to be dedicated to showing films such as the great train robbery.

These Nickelodeons were important to film as they were the early stages of what would evolve into movie theatres we know today.
