The Provincial Council of Australian bishops strongly challenged against secular education and advised more towards the Catholic doctrine being taught only in Catholic schools. Rome, however, advised Catholic children to not accept anything other than a Catholic education. This created tension between Catholic and non-Catholics because it created a sense of division and inclusiveness.
