Description:
In "The 8 Stages of Genocide" written by George Stanton, Stanton states that polarization is one of the main parts of genocide. Polarization is when killings spiral out of control until it reaches mass killings. The Nanking massacre had polarization when the Japanese soldiers held public executions, including decapitation. The Japanese soldiers also killed pedestrians on the street, because they might be Chinese soldiers hiding in pedestrian costumes. The Japanese military also shelled the city with artillery, and bombed it from planes.
