Description:

Brazil's independence movement was a non- violent revolution with a peaceful transfer of power because Brazil wanted to become independent from Portugal, and Prince Pedro from the Portuguese royal family simply declared Brazil an independent constitutional monarchy with himself as king. Previously, Brazilian tailors revolted as they were inspired by revolutionary ideas in France. Brazil was able to regain its position as an empire again after they became independent, but slavery continued as an issue for many years.
