Description:

The people of Mexico gained independence from Spain. This first started from the ideas of the Enlightenment, and the people wanted to have equal rights. Father Miguel Hidalgo, Jose Maria Morelos, and Ignacio Allende led the rebel army throughout the revolution. This revolution led to many other Latin American countries fighting for independence. Later Agustin de Iturbide became a dictator and was overthrown. After, they developed a federal republic.
