feb 22, 1891 - WOODVILLE, OTWAY & GRAY LATHAM

Description:

Further probloems that occured within new cameras included them creating a jerking movement when processing a moving image. This often caused the film strips to snap.

The solution was pioneered by the family of Woodville, Otway and Gray Latham. They invented the Eidoloscope Projector. Although this was later proved to be an unpopular invention with filmmakers, they did prevent the film in their camera from breaking by loading a slack loop of film into the camera and projector. This allowed the film to act like an elastic as it repeatedly moved and stopped.
Many future inventors utilised this invention in their own work.
