aug 26, 1544 - THE CAMERA OBSURAE

Description:

The Camera Obscure is the first recorded use of early camera equipment. They were made up of dark rooms with a single canvas in which a projection of light created through a minuscule hole created an inverted image. This was achieved through the refraction of light and the law of optics. This was popular for helping artists create landscape and portrait images by creating a shadow to trace, and allowing people to view the sun without looking directly into the sky.
Many people still use a modernised version of the Camera Obscurae today, as the image that it creates is still considered to be interesting and is used in many exhibitions. In order to create a higher quality reproduced image, a glass lens is used. This is an example of how camera equipment is constantly evolving and improving.
