may 10, 1775 - Second Continental Congress

Description:

A mere year after the first continental congress, the second took place, this time with all the colonies. With the situations escalating the colonists were wary, but still hoping to make peace. They wrote the “Olive Branch Petition” telling the king they were willing to make peace. However, they were no longer certain of its effectiveness and strengthened the Continental Army with volunteers from all the colonies and George Washington was assigned to lead it.
