Description:
The act was enacted to give the British East India Tea company a monopoly over tea in the colonies. Although in effect it actually lowered the price of tea and did not impose any new taxes colonists were still angered. They hated the idea of being restricted in any way, because of this the infamous Boston Tea Party took place.Added to timeline:
