Description:

After the sugar act failed with the colonists refusing to pay the taxes, England responded with the stamp act. This placed a stamp on all paper documents, this was so the tax would impact everyone. This was the first direct tax on the American colonists, the ones before had been on imports. Because of this the phrase “no taxation without representation” was created by the angered colonists.
