jan 1, 1758 - Fall of Louisbourg

Description:

The fortress tasked to Guard the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, and protect the gateway to New France. Upon seizeing the fortress, the British burnt the fortress down. This was catastrophic for the French as New France was now exposed. This weakness was exploited by the British by attacking the interior of New France at the Plains of Abraham, and Montreal. New France (Quebec) would then go on to be completely occupied by the English, and then seized by the English promptly putting an end to Frances colonial power of North America.
