jan 1, 1804 - Haiti Gains Independence
Description:
The Haitian Revolution was by far one of the largest and most successful slave revolts in the West. It began like a normal Revolution where the free citizens had complaints that their mother countries wouldn't take care of and when the people saw a chance they took it, they won in the end. But then they realized that they were still technically part of France and while everyone was busy fighting France with the help of Spain, the slaves decided to revolt. Spain decided to help the slaves and Toussaint L'Ouverture led the slaves to victory.
