Import of silk and gold textiles - Marco Polo’s accounts had stressed the wealth and luxury of the Mongol court of Genghis Khan’s grandson Kublai Khan (r.1260–95) in China, and the import of silk and gold textiles only seemed to confirm his descriptions.
