oct 11, 1977 - Introduction to VHS.
Description:
A Japanese country, Matsushita, introduced VHS recorders. As they had released this piece of technology, sony, too, released the betamax format. The betamax was ‘technologically superior’ as it had higher resolution but was extremely more expensive for such a small difference in quality. This resulted in the VHS player being the dominant format: it was cheaper, higher availability of hardware and much more VHS tapes were released than betamax. This made the VHS successful over the betamax.
